NOPPAL has a number of goals that are all based on the same principle idea, which is the medical, psychological and social support and accompaniment through a series of action plans that we will list hereunder:
To offer a safe place for the parents as well as the orphans touched by the HIV virus where they will be listened to so that they will be able to deal better with their situation;
To provide better knowledge about the virus and it’s evolution through the testimony of others. This way they can share their experience and will it help them to better accept their status;
To normalize the “HIV positive status” and therefore allow everybody to get rid of the ignorance concerning the disease;
To sensitise the general opinion in order to enable those concerned to receive psychological and material support. This will have as effect that people no longer live a lie or with guilt feelings, will be rejected or suffer from indifference;
To help those concerned to reinstate themselves in society and obtain an acceptable social and professional life;
To help the patient with his or her awareness of the disease which will help them to normalize the situation and get rid of the taboos that have formed around the disease;
To do all possible in order to make treatment available to all, especially in the developing world;
To help the HIV positive person to take charge of his or her life so that the virus will not overpower them;
To create a means of accompaniment where the purpose is the regular medical follow-up that is specific to his or her medical treatment;
To help the concerned person not to give up but to proudly live a normal life like anyone else;
To develop and increase the talents of each member concerned in any work field so that they will not become discouraged and remain an engaged fighter where work is concerned;
To help the member not to lose his sense of value; to avoid that he or she is being made a prisoner of the disease but instead can live a full and worthy life whilst turning their back to the past and looking forward to a radiant future without any complexes or nostalgic feelings;
To help the HIV positive person to stay courageous, optimistic and with the knowledge no justification is necessary;
To help the person concerned to discover it is possible to express him or herself freely about the disease by being open to others;
To exhort the HIV positive person to take risks in talking about his or her inner feelings because the greatest danger is not to risk anything at all, to cross your fingers and keep silent;
Exhort those concerned to keep their inherent moral values and this through showing others that despite all the suffering and sorrow, the fear and sadness, they are still capable to feel, grow, love, and go through life exactly like everybody else.
